Basil unhappy with Thilanga

Prime Ministerial hopeful of the governing party, Basil Rajapaksa is unhappy with Thilanga Sumathipala after hearing that Thilanga had invited Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanyake as chief guest to his inaugural meeting held in Borella, sources from the SLFP headquarters said.

The meeting was held on March 11 to coincide with Thilanga’s preferential number 11.

Basil it is learnt had sent a message to Thilanga through a friend that he was displeased with Thilanga for ignoring a directive issued by the Presidential Secretariat. The directive by the Presidential Secretariat had said that basil be invited to all main election meetings held in all the districts.

  A song written by senior lecturer Prageeth Abeysundera for Thilanga was sung by Damayanthi Jayasuriya at the meeting held on the 11th. Thilanga’s son Udanga Sumathipala launched his father’s website for the election campaign www.voteforthilanga.lk.
